System Disturbances: GRIDCo/ECG apologize to customers

Accra, May 01, GNA – The Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana, have announced the loss of power supply to some customers due to a system disturbance.

A joint statement issued by GRIDCo and ECG, copied the Ghana News Agency said the disturbance occurred at 1342 hours on Thursday 1st May, when a tipper truck discharging stones at a private developer’s construction site near Nkawkaw – Konongo Transmission Line, lifted its bucket into the line conductor, damaging the line and causing the disturbance.

It said the the incident caused all power plants at Aboadze and Anwomaso to trip, taking off supply to the Western, Central and Northern parts of the country, as well as some customers in Accra.

It noted that engineers had mobilised to the location to repair the damaged transmission line and work was on-going to restore all affected areas by 1800 hours on Thursday.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this incident has caused,” the statement said.
