“Don’t die in debt,” Wande Coal, Odumodublvck warn upcoming artistes
By Oluwapelumi Oluwayemi
Nigerian singer and songwriter Wande Coal has stirred trend online after questioning the readiness of aspiring musicians to enter the music industry.
Taking to X, the
artiste
wrote: “Are you sure you really want to do this music business? You must be very sure oooo,” noting the challenges that come with the profession.
Voicing his concerns, rapper
Odumodublvck
offered a cautionary note to up-and-coming artistes about the financial risks involved in early record label deals.
“Dear upcoming artist, if you know your music is not ripe, stay away from an advance. You do not want to be owing an organisation so much money. You will die a debtor,” Odumodublvck warned.
He
advised patience and consistent hard work, urging artists to perfect their craft before seeking major financial backing.
